There are a number of ways to introduce ventilation within a lantern roof.  It is always desirable to include ventilation to encourage the dissipation of rising warm air.  Town and Country will advise the most appropriate method for your lantern roof, each of which is described below.

 

RIDGE-MOUNTED ROOF VENTILATORS
(Not appropriate for very small hipped nor pyramid lantern roofs).

The most effective and widely used method is to include ridge-mounted casement-type windows within the lantern roof assembly.  Manual operation is  by locating a handpole pole to a worm-screw jack (brass finish as standard).  Electric operation is by discreet chain actuated openers and a wall mounted switch.  Electric operation may be enhanced to include a variable thermostatic control, with rain sensor setting and a manual override.  Electrical connection is by others.

 

OPENING CASEMENTS.
(Lantern roofs with side-frames only).


One of the principal benefits of including side-frames within a lantern roof design, is the opportunity to introduce more significant ventilation.  The sub-division of each elevation of a side-frame will include an arrangements of individually framed casements, hung within the rebated frame.  It is possible to specify any number of these as top-hung outward-opening windows, operated by discreet chain actuated openers and a wall mounted switch.   Electric operation may be enhanced to include a variable thermostatic control, with rain sensor setting and a manual override.

ROOF PLATE VENTILATORS.
(Appropriate for very small hipped lantern roofs and pyramids).

Passive ventilation (air exchange from inside to outside only) is achieved via a number of premium brand trickle ventilators within the roof plate assembly.
